Holy Neglected Website!

Ah, so…  you are still here.

Thanks.

Sorry that it takes me so damned long to write stuff.

I work to hard.

So, I’ve done some background work keeping paxtonland up to date technically.  There are still quite an awful lot of people that come here, despite the fact that I never seem to have time to write.

As they say, if it’s important, you’ll do it.

Finally Crap Dot Com!

So, there is about 4 major things wrong with this commercial:

  1. XP on a MacBook, with a BSOD
  2. Actually, most of the computers depicted are Macs running Windows.
  3. At about :18 in, they have a Mac running windows, running IE, getting the Firefox version of the “Unable to Connect” page.
  4. Finally, through the entire thing, they flash “PC Computers only,” on the bottom.

I think that the guy who put the commercial together was putting subtle clues to let people know it was a scam.  I think.

Anyway, seems they charge for free software you can easily download and run yourself. So if you were thinking about running their “Free Scan,” remember these things almost always cost you money and will probably trade your malware, viri, and spyware for theirs.

Mich. Dems’ typo directs voters to phone-sex line

DETROIT (AP) — Michigan Democrats trying to arouse interest in absentee voting have accidentally directed people to a phone-sex line.

State party spokeswoman Liz Kerr says a flier that included two absentee ballot applications had a misprint in the number for a campaign hotline.

The flier came from the Michigan Democratic State Central Committee and featured photos of presidential candidate Barack Obama and U.S. Sen. Carl Levin.

The error was first reported by WJBK-TV in Detroit. Kerr says the party apologizes for the misprint.

Well, look on the bright side.  The Michigan democratic party turned a bunch of shut-ins on to a new addiction.

In The Rumor Mill

The New York Times is reporting on a rumor that GM and Chrysler are considering a merger.   In fact, several new orgs are reporting on the same rumor.

First, I can say that here on the ground we have heard rumors about this for years.  Including rumors about a GM – Ford merger.   Before the three-headed-hound-of-hell purchased the mess that Dailmer made of Chrysler, there was specualtion about GM being a buyer.

Though I would like to see GM acquire Jeep, I can’t say that I see any value in Chrysler for GM except to gain more market share.  That has value.  Otherwise,  Whether you wish to believe it or, not… GM has strong market share, strong competitive models, and can survive on its own.  Despite rumors.
